Why Barrel Sauna
Every detail — from the grain of the cedar to the placement of the heater — is designed to deliver an authentic Finnish sauna experience in your own backyard.
A 6kW traditional Finnish heater loaded with natural volcanic stones. Reaches temperature in under 45 minutes — authentic sauna heat, not a pale imitation.
Handcrafted from rustic cedar — naturally aromatic, rot-resistant, and built for NZ's outdoor conditions. Ages beautifully with every session.
Use it dry for intense penetrating heat, or add water to the stones for a humid steam session. One sauna, two completely different experiences.
Available in 2, 4, or 6-person configurations — choose the size that fits your space and lifestyle.

Common Questions
A regular sauna session loosens tight muscles, gets your circulation moving and helps you wind down at the end of the day. Plenty of people use it to recover after training, sleep better and clear their head, and some notice clearer skin and a lift in mood too.
A traditional sauna heats the air with stones, creating dry heat and steam. An infrared sauna uses panels that warm your body directly while the air stays cooler. You sweat just as much at a lower temperature. It comes down to what you prefer — intense steam heat or gentle, deep warmth.
Traditional saunas usually sit between 70 and 90°C, and some push past 100°C. Pour water over the stones for classic steam. Infrared saunas run cooler at 50–70°C but the heat travels deeper into the body.
Our infrared saunas use a click-in-place system — no special tools, 30–60 minutes with two people. Traditional and outdoor saunas are larger and may need professional installation.
